Sometimes, for any number of reasons, I find it taxing and nothing short of a struggle to be funny. Sometimes, perhaps due to forces beyond my control, I push that boulder just to get out of bed every morning. Sometimes, thanks in part to putting all of my eggs in one basket -a basket, let's say, owned exclusively by someone who should really just remain nameless- I can scarcely find the strength to construct any more 'eggs'. Sometimes, most notably because I have lost what I thought to be pointless contact with two people who should always be a part of everyone's lives, I feel abandoned and dead inside. And sometimes, I think thoughts that maybe I really shouldn't about problems that, thanks mostly to a wonderful group of people, are fleeting at best. It has been a very long week to say the least. Humor is, so I've been told, much less difficult to produce than sullen angst. I've heard tell that frowning takes nearly twice as many muscles to produce than smiling; though frowning is, often, a frightfully more overpowering emotion. But I choose to stomp out my dour mood right now and do my very best to write something witty and giggle-worthy. So here goes. I think the best thing that's happened lately -with me alone, that is- is that I've located a really neat little Web Comic hosting site very similar to MySpace only far less disgusting and trite. Sure, it might be called Drunk Duck (see the link on the side here) but it is inundated with some of the most wonderful and, equally, ridiculous comics I have ever seen. It's such a wonderful community and even though I've only been there just a few days, my comic is getting some new attention from people I never thought I'd entertain. Oh sure, it's still going to get posted here on the basis I've mentioned (again, see the side notes) but I have posted ahead there just because it is so darn fun and is garnering such praise. Don't worry, if you choose not to check out that site, you'll still see the same comics up here. If you do wager a peek, it is really cool and, who knows, maybe some of you have an inner jokester waiting to break out! Try it out, it's totally free. I went to the bookstore today after tossing another heap of applications around our worthless city, and I performed quite the good Samaritan act if I do say so my damn self. I was walking in the doors and I immediately spy an older and far more decrepit woman making her way with walker to the exit. Well, since both in and out doors are the same, I decided to pause my own act of entering and hold the doors ajar for the lovely lady. She was gracious to the nines and begged me to have a blessed day... maybe. Just behind her, without fail, was a woman throwing out vibes emanating from the polar opposite of the spectrum. It's always the same around here; one person is invariably carefree and polite, even offering a wide grin and a cheery note, while the next person in line is a massive ass. Well, regardless of this particular bitch's persona, I held the door for her, too. Not even a thank you. Well, at least I can hope a little that she got hit by a truck and not feel too badly about it. There's an ad on the radio right now featuring a dad and his kid. The father is calm and cool as he tries to instill in his boy how to be polite, right, and stand-up all the while cursing out another driver on the road. The message says something like, "Keep your cool in front of your kids, and they will, too; but lose it, and they will think it's ok to do the same." It's a damn good thought, that's for sure, but it sure as shit isn't realistic. I try very hard to maintain collectiveness in every situation involving my kids, but if they are in the car and some son of a brown-eye cuts me off nearly sideswiping me thereby putting my kids in danger, you better believe that driver is going to get a verbal flurry. I don't cuss though, and thankfully my vocabulary is powerful enough so I don't have to. Assholes. Alright, I guess I feel better now... well, a little I suppose. Still, the opening paragraph is hard to shake. See ya. Stew

- This Blog thing I enjoy has literally made me a name it at least Azerbaijan and in some locations deep in the Congo... so that's cool. Besides infrequently putting forth minimal effort doing a blog, I also try a fair bit harder to make people laugh in their cereal over at GUNAXIN.COM, which is where I actually get paid to make up stupid stuff and use foul language. Anyway... why are you still reading this? Oh, and while you're here, you might as well go check out my DeviatArt page, too! http://stewwriter.deviantart.com/

The real talent, and humor, comes in taken that sullen angst and making it seem funny - thus the humorous rant and other such things...
As for the grumpy lady with the door - never forget, you don't open doors or other courtesies because the recipient of your kindness is a woman, but because you are a gentleman. Then happily go on your way, knowing you did the "gentlemanly" thing, and wishing her a very long walk off a very short pier.
Sheesh - I need more coffee today...
That should have read "taking" - not "taken". Bad editor! Bad!
