THE TOP TEN WEIRD AL YANKOVIC VIDEOS

In keeping with the humor them, I do believe it's hight time I pay a little tribute to my favorite parodist of all time! The one and only 'Weird' Al Yankovic! From his modest beginnings singing such classics as My Balogna (My Sharona), Hey Ricky! (Hey Micky!), and Another One Rides the Bus (Another One Bites The Dust), to his recent blockbuster hits Amish Paradise (Gangsters Paradise), Fat (Bad), Pitiful (Beautiful), and The Theme From the Beverly Hillbillies (Money For Nothin'), Al has been keeping up with the Joneses, so to speak, and has even managed to hang around longer than many of those he's parodied! Oh, and he's a darn funny guy. Check out 'UHF' if you don't believe me, or event the one season of 'The Weird Al Show'. Anyway, here's the ten best videos of this kick ass artist.

I'm pretty sure I entered and serene state of madness by the time I gave in and used a bit of concert footage. So, anyway, still top ten, still great videos, but a best of, well, let's say it's the best I could find. Enjoy!

THE TOP 13 COOLEST SPACE SHIPS OF ALL TIME

FRIDAY! List time! Oh BOY! What's the subject this week? Well, I'll tell you: SPACESHIPS! That's right! The absolute staple of the outer space Sci-Fi film is the ever-present ship that either transports the heroes or villains to their destinations, or else it's a major piece in the story line itself. Galactic travel has been around for years, and each and every decent series of well know movies has featured a mode of transportation that stands out as something not only kick-ass, but also holds on to its popularity for generations. The following thirteen ships and the like are some of the most well known pieces in film and television history.
*************************************************** ***************************************************** **************************************************
13) The YAMATO (Argo): Starblazers
The inhabitants of Earth secretly convert the ruin of the Japanese battleship Yamato into a massive spaceship, the Space Battleship Yamato of the title. Using Starsha's blueprints, they equip their new ship with a space warp drive and a new, incredibly powerful weapon called the "wave motion gun" that fires out the bow. In the English dub, the ship is still the historical Yamato and once referred to as such, but is renamed the Argo (after the ship of Jason and the Argonauts) once rebuilt.
*********************************************** ***********************************************
12) The Satellite of Love: Mystery Science Theater 3000
he Satellite of Love (sometimes known as the SOL) is the fictional main setting of the comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000 It is a giant bone-shaped spacecraft Joel Robinson (later replaced by Mike Nelson) and his friends — robots: Crow T. Robot, Tom Servo, Gypsy, Cambot and the noncorporeal Magic Voice — live in. The vessel was in orbit above Earth during much of the series, except for a journey to the end of the universe and its flight throughout the Space-Time Continuum chasing Pearl Forrester.
************************************************ ************************************************
11) Klingon Bird-Of-Prey: Star Trek

The Bird of Prey was first seen in the movie Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. This has become perhaps the most common Klingon ship design in modern Star Trek. It is much smaller than the D7 and K't'inga class cruisers. Standard crew complement is a dozen officers and men (stated by Hikaru Sulu in STIII). Birds of Prey are fast and agile warships. They are the ship of choice for espionage and spy missions, and many Klingon commanders prefer to command them over the larger vessels in the fleet. The wings are movable and have three main positions: slanted down for battle, raised slightly above 180 degrees for cruising, and raised very high for landing (the Bird of Prey is one of the few starships that enter a planet's atmosphere and land on its surface; Federation Intrepid-class ships are another).

****************************************** ******************************************
10) The Event Horizon
In the year 2047, faint radio signals from the starship Event Horizon are picked up on Earth. The ship had mysteriously disappeared in 2040, just beyond the planet Neptune; her loss was attributed to an accident, and was widely considered to be the worst space disaster on record. The ship appears to be in a decaying orbit around the planet Neptume, and the rescue ship Lewis and Clark is dispatched to investigate. The crew, which includes the Event Horizon’s designer, Dr. William Weir (Sam Neill), must spend a 56-day journey to Neptune in stasis in order to reach the ship.
***************************************** *****************************************
9) The Sulaco: Aliens

The U.S.S. Sulaco is a fictional spaceship forming an important setting in the film Aliens and being briefly seen in the opening of Alien 3. In Aliens, the Sulaco is used by the United States Colonial Marines a fictional military force, as a transport to investigate the loss of communication on LV-426. A large part of the movies features an attempt by the remains of the force landed on the moon to return to the ship in orbit. Eventually, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) manages to return to the vessel on board of one of the dropships, but accidentally carries aboard the Alien Queen has to fight it in the dropship bay of the vessel before casting it out into space.

************************************************ **************************************************
8) Flash Gordon's Rocket Ship
The comic strip follows the adventures of Flash Gordon, a handsome polo player and Yale graduate, and his companions Dale Arden Dr. Hanz Zarkov. The story begins with Earth bombarded by fiery meteors. Dr. Zarkov believes the meteors are from outer space, and invents a rocket ship to locate their place of origin. Half mad, he kidnaps Flash and Dale, and the three travel to the planet Mongo, where they discover that the meteors are weapons devised by Ming the Merciless, evil ruler of Mongo.
*********************************************** ***********************************************
7) Unicron: Transformers - The Movie
The character Unicron first appeared in the opening scene of 1986's Transformers Movie, immediately making clear his driving goal by consuming the small world of Lithone the year 2005. Subsequently, when the battered bodies of Decepticon leader Megatron several of his troops were set adrift in space by Starscream a furious battle with the Autobots, Unicron appeared before them and offered Megatron a deal: in exchange for a new body, and new troops, Megatron would destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, the only thing that could stand in Unicron's way.
********************************************* ********************************************
6) Imperial Star Destroyer: The Star Wars Universe

The first Star Destroyer to appear in Star Wars is of the Imperial class, and this type most frequently appears in the original trilogy. Although the ship appears in A New Hope (1977), the term "Star Destroyer" is not used in dialog until The Empire Strikes Back (1980).In the original draft scripts of the movie that would become Star Wars, the term "Stardestroyer" refers to two-man fighters flown by what would become the Galactic Empire in later drafts. ILM built a 91-centimeter shooting model of the ship for A New Hope they built a 259-centimeter model, equipped with internal lighting to provide a better sense of scale, for The Empire Strikes Back

*************************************** ***************************************
5) The Classic Flying Saucer
From the description of Earth Versus the Flying Saucers: The film is set in 1956, a year before the first satellite, Sputnik I went into orbit. In the film, "Project Skyhook," a U.S. effort to launch a dozen satellites, is visited by a flying saucer. A misunderstanding leads to the aliens being fired on, and they respond by immediately attacking in retaliation. The sequence of events quickly spirals out of control and leads to a full scale invasion. Flying saucers attack Washington, D.C., Paris, London, and Moscow. In the end, the alien saucers are defeated over the skies of Washington by a device using high-power sound coupled with an electric field that stops the saucers' propulsion systems.
******************************************** ********************************************
4) The USS Enterprise: Star Trek
The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) is a fictional starship in the TV series: Star Trek, which chronicles the vessel's mission "to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before" under the command of Captain James T. *************************************** ***************************************
2) TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space): Dr. Who
A product of Time Lord, a properly maintained and piloted TARDIS can transport its occupants to any point in time and space. The interior of a TARDIS is much larger than its exterior, which can blend in with its surroundings through the ship's chameleon circuit. In the series, the Doctor pilots an unreliable, stolen, obsolete Type 40 TARDIS, once referred to as a TT Capsule, whose chameleon circuit is faulty, leaving it locked in the shape of a 1950s-style London Police Box. It was stolen from Gallifrey where it was an old decommissioned derelict, and the unpredictability of the TARDIS's short range guidance — that is, relative to the size of the entire Universe — has often been a plot point in the Doctor's travels.

THE TOP TEN WORST PHOTOSHOPS THIS WEEK

Ah Friday. Time again for another list. So this week I happened upon a fellow Blogspot cohort whilst perusing the area, and I have to say I haven't laughed that hard in quite some time. So, before I even go on with my own take on these outstanding pics, I have to give all props (aside from my own little snide captions) to right here: PhotoshopDisasters. Do yourself a favor and check it out. So, without further ado: Here's some of the worst Photoshops this week. Ten, in fact.
***************************************************** *************************************************** *****************************************************
10) Disney Has Some Serious Artistic Issues
Take a long look at how many superfluous limbs there are strewn throughout this picture! It's like a cannibals picnic over here! Obviously, someone not especially integral to the cast was removed at the last minute... well, 'removed' is certainly relative. Shame on you, Multi-Billion Dollar corporation! You really ought to hire some better graphic designers.
******************************************************** ********************************************************
9) Hurray! Many of Us, Including Thing, Have Won the Soccer Match!
No wonder they won, their goalie has far too many hands! That really has to be considered a rule breaking issue, me thinks.
*********************************************** ***********************************************
8) All Elephantine Trousers ON SALE!
Now, either the top half of this jovial miss is in an entirely different room, or, possible a completely different plane of existence. Or, let say just for the sake of argument that our lady friend here really does have legs shaped and sized similar to tree trunks, then I'd have to suggest she see a doctor... quickly.
******************************************************** ********************************************************
7) HOLY SHIT!
Sweet Mary of Mercy there is something wrong with this freaks cake hole! Oh, wait, I know, this is that one German twat who can eat an entire ham in one bite. Yeah, she's adorable.
******************************************************** ********************************************************
6) Oh, It Appears The Ring's Own Samara Has Won Something! EVERYBODY RUN!
Now I don't even want to get into the logistics of why a team of obviously drunk Photoshoppers would need to remove the entire lower jaw of this particular woman. Did she have a giant hunk of spinach wedged in her teeth and no matter how much they tried to whiten her choppers it just kept getting worse? Was she afflicted with a terrible growth that engulfed her chin? I can't even begin to imagine, but she's freaking me the FUCK OUT!
******************************************** ********************************************
5) Mr. Johnny-Round-Town, Thing, Goes on a Hot Date!
Wow, it's so nice to see former Addam's Family member, Thing, has found a life outside of Hollywood. In fact, it appears he's making himself seen all over the place of late! Here we can clearly see him enjoying a stroll on the beach with a lovely model. Way to go!
********************************************* *********************************************
4) You Got Your Head Knocked the FUCK OFF!
First off, this inexcusable picture is brought to you by those scholars of the sporting world: Sports Illustrated. Yeah, I know. Secondly, the really problem is that 'Headless' Joe Johnson didn't OK the use of his image. Sad, really.
******************************************************* *******************************************************
3) Let Me Caress You, My Goddess Shiva.
I'm counting five arms, five hands, and two people. Something in that equation just doesn't add up. I suppose it's entirely possible that this is a book jacket from another galaxy, in which case we'd need a few more eyes, too.
******************************************* *******************************************
2) Brought to You By The Fine Folks at 'Waist-Watchers'
I think this says you basically get half off. Clever. Also disturbing.
*********************************************** ***********************************************
1) Grand Theft Auto IV: The Aliens Have Landed
Who doesn't love the games by those fine folks over at Rock Star? We've been enjoying the wonderful and vast Grand Theft Auto series for quite sometime now and I guess it was only a matter of momentum from the franchise carrying us into uncharted, freakish territory. Oh, you don't get it? this hooker right here is sporting SIX fingers. On one hand. How much is she?

THE TOP TEN REASONS WHY THE NHL KICKS ASS

YAHOO! Yeah, I am bias as they come when it comes to home town teams bringing home a championship, and none is more deserving than my FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM EVER: The Detroit Red Wings! The Cup has finally returned after 6 years and I couldn't be happier. After 8 months of hockey, a great playoff series, and a Stanley Cup championship game going into 3 overtimes, i could not be happier for or persistent Wings! So, my list today is dedicated to them. Enjoy!
************************************* *************************************
10. HOME GAME ANTHEM PERFORMER KAREN NEWMAN
***************************************** ******************************************
9. THE FOLLOWING KICK-ASS FACTS:
0 - Shorthanded goals allowed by Detroit in its 22 playoff games. The Wings also led all teams by scoring six shorthanded goals, including one in Game 1 of the Final.
1 – European-born and trained captains of Stanley Cup-winning teams. Detroit's Nicklas Lidstrom a native of Sweden, is the first non-North American to lead his team to a Stanley Cup.
1.55 – Detroit goaltender Chris Osgood's goals-against average in the Playoffs. Osgood surrendered only nine goals in six games in the Final, one of which went into triple overtime.
2 – Two-man advantages for the Penguins killed off by the Red Wings in the Final. The Wings held Pittsburgh scoreless for 1:33 of a 5-on-3 in Game 6 after blanking them for 1:26 in the third period of Game 4.
3 – Hat tricks by the Red Wings in the playoffs – the only ones by any team in the 85 playoff games played this year. Johan Franzen two, both against Colorado in the conference semifinals, and Pavel Datsyuk had one in Game 3 of the Western Finals against Dallas.
4 – Stanley Cups won by the Red Wings in the last 11 years. Since 1997, when they ended a 42-year championship drought, the Wings have won more Cups than any club since the Edmonton Oilers captured five in seven years from 1984-90.
4 – Playoff series this year in which the Red Wings won the clinching game on the road. Detroit closed out all four rounds away from Joe Louis Arena, winning three times in Game 6 and once in Game 4.
5 – Red Wings who've been a member of all four Cup-winning teams since 1997. Lidstrom, Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby, Tomas Holmstrom and Darren McCarty have been on all four title-winning clubs.
6 – Games in the Stanley Cup Final in which the Red Wings out-shot Pittsburgh, including 30-22 in Game 6. The Wings had at least seven more shots on goal in every game.
8 – Red Wings who have won three or more Stanley Cups. In addition to the five players who've been on all four Cup teams, Osgood, Chris Chelios, Brian Rafalski their third rings.
9 – Goals allowed by the Red Wings in the Final. That's actually the most they've allowed in the four Finals that led to their Cups. They allowed seven to Carolina in 2002 and Washington in 1998 and only six to Philadelphia in a four-game sweep in 1997.
10 – Consecutive Stanley Cups won by the team that had the home-ice advantage. The last team to win a Cup when opening on the road was the Red Wings against Philadelphia in 1997.
11 – Total Stanley Cups won by the Red Wings, the third-highest total in NHL history behind Montreal (23) and Toronto (13), and the most by a team based in the United States.
13 – Playoff games in which the Red Wings won when scoring first, including three in the Final. Detroit lost only once (Game 3 to Nashville in the opening round) when getting the first goal.
13 – Shutouts in this year's playoffs. Osgood and Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury shared the lead with three; Osgood had two of his in the first two games of the Final.
14 – Wins by Osgood, including all four in the Stanley Cup Final. Osgood set a record for the most wins by a goaltender who didn't start his team's first playoff game. Hasek won Games 1 and 2 against Nashville, lost Game 3 and was yanked after allowing three early goals in Game 4. Osgood replaced him and played every minute the rest of the way.
14 – Wins by the Red Wings when leading after two periods in the playoffs. Detroit won every postseason game in which it led after 40 minutes, including all three in the Final.
15 – Points by Detroit's Niklas Kronwall, the most of any defenseman in the playoffs. All of his points were assists, including a pair in Game 6.
16 – Years since the Cup-winning goal was scored in the third period. Henrik Zetterberg's at 7:36 was the first Cup-winner in the third period since Pittsburgh's Ron Francis did it in 1992 – the last time the Penguins made the Final before this year.
18 – Faceoffs taken by Draper in Game 6 – he won 15, including two big draws in the final minute.
20 – Games in this year's postseason in which the Red Wings out-shot their opponents. The Wings were 15-5 in the playoffs when they had more shots, including 4-2 in the Final. They were out-shot once and tied once.
20 – Power-play goals by the Red Wings in the playoffs, including four in the Final. The fourth one, by Brian Rafalski the first period of Game 6, put Detroit ahead to stay.
27 – Points by Zetterberg and Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby in this year's playoffs, the most of any players. Zetterberg, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner, had 13 goals and 14 assists, including one of each in Game 6. Crosby had six goals and a playoff-high 21 assists; both had six points in the Final.
41 – Times, including this year, that a team has won the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final and gone on to win the Cup. The non-winners: Detroit in 1942 and 1966 and Chicago in 1971.
54 – Times that the team winning the opener of the Stanley Cup Final has gone on to win the Cup. The last Game 1 winner to come up short was the Calgary Flames, who won the opener in 2004 but lost to Tampa Bay in seven games. The Lightning are one of 15 Game 1 losers to rally and win the Cup.
62 – Playoff series won by the Red Wings, including all four this year. That's second to Montreal (86) on the all-time list. Detroit passed Toronto (58) by winning its first-round series against Nashville.
70 – Victories this season by the Red Wings – 54 in the regular season and 16 in the playoffs. They lost 28 regular-season games (21 in regulation and seven in overtime or a shootout) and six in the playoffs.

THE TOP TEN MOST OBSCURE ZOMBIE MOVIES

**Before I begin, sorry about the lateness of this entry, but I've been doing battle with a nasty computer virus. So, a big fist-pump goes out to my dad who suggested Norton to kick its ass and it WORKED! Anyway, on with the show**
******************************************************* ******************************************************** *******************************************************
"So, webmaster Stew wanted a list of obscure Zombie movies. How obscure are we going here? While my immediate circle of friends has seen City Of The Living Dead, does that make it not obscure? Then I realized that I was trying too hard and just went for the gusto. Here they are in no particular order:"
**************************************************** ****************************************************
10. MULVA, ZOMBIE ASS KICKER (2001) –
Anyone familiar with the micro budget madness of Chris Seaver knows that this is one of his more ambitious projects with a huge cast of extras. I always liked Missy Donatuti in the lead. She comes off as repulsive and funny at the same time. Probably one of the most quotable flicks on the list.
********************************************** **********************************************
9. THE STINK OF FLESH (2005) –
Even with the crappy Netflix viewer on my computer I was hooked into this tale of zombies, alternative sex lives and what it might really be like if zombies rule the Earth. Little pockets of humanity that are driven crazy by the new way of the world. I thought the ending of the flick was anticlimactic, but overall, this is a pretty well done micro budget horror flick.
************************************************ ************************************************
8. FEEDING THE MASSES (2004) –
This one is tricky. It’s more of a social commentary than anything else, but it works. The zombies exist, but the media is downplaying it to such a low note that it is the least of the average Joe’s concern. When a news crew and an army guy get together to blow the story wide open their biggest threat is the horde of zombies that have been ignored for so long coming to the forefront. Very interesting take on the zombie genre.
******************************************* *******************************************
7. RESURRECTION GAME (2001) –
Another social commentary clothed in a zombie flick wrapped in the devices of an action film with a little sci fi thrown in to make sure we’re paying attention. Get all that? Good, because this is one of the best zombie flicks of the new millennium and deserves to be watched by all.
********************************************** **********************************************
6. CEMETERY MAN (1994) –
Rupert Everett stars in a film that is more than a little odd. He’s a caretaker of a cemetery where the bodies have issues with staying dead. The wild cinematography with the disgusting special effects makes this a thrill ride of a film that is over before you’re ready for it. And there is no way that you will be ready for the end of this flick. I can guarantee it!
*********************************************** ***********************************************
5. A VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD (1973) –
My favorite Franco film is definitely one for the list. Mainly because most people have seen the butchered scenes with the god-awful zombies shot by French director Jean Rollin. Yeah, those scenes suck. With Franco’s true version our zombies look and act a lot like you and I, but they have a more sinister purpose. And it all centers on the lead, Christina, in the film. This fever dream of a film has to be seen in its proper form and entirety to be believed.
************************************************* *************************************************
4. ZOMBIE LAKE (1993) –
We mentioned Jean Rollin at number 5 and now he gets his own entry in a flick I liked. Sure, my immediate circle of lunatics knows this flick, but I don’t think it’s well known to the public at large. What do you get when you combine Nazi zombies, lots of naked women and Howard Vernon? You get cinema magic. Sure, the zombies look like crap and are more blood drinkers than flesh eaters, but they still fit in the definition of zombie. The woman sunbathing at the beginning of the film is worth the price of admission. Jean Rollin knows one thing very well. He knows naked women very well and fills the screen with them. It’s funny to notice that whenever the camera goes under the surface of the lake it immediately turns into a pool! Funny stuff.
******************************************** ********************************************
3. I EAT YOUR SKIN (1964) –
This one got famous in the seventies with the double feature tie in of I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. The bug eyed zombies in this flick are pretty cool to a little kid and kind of frightening. As an island voodoo tale this one works pretty well. Most people have heard of it, few have actually watched it and that’s a shame.
***************************************** *****************************************
2. ZOMBIE 4: AFTER DEATH (1988) –
Okay, in Europe, the original DAWN OF THE DEAD (And it pains me that I have to say ‘original’) was titled ZOMBIE. So, when they made a quick rip off they called it ZOMBIE 2 over in Europe and here it was called ZOMBIE. This lead to a ZOMBIE 3 which a lot of people saw, but I’m betting that ZOMBIE 4 is not a widely watched flick. A group of cancer scientists try to cure cancer and that means heading to a jungle full of voodoo people. When the daughter of the voodoo priest is killed he opens one of the gates of Hell and the zombies are up and running. As a sequel to ZOMBIE it is a little lame, but as a stand on it’s own it works pretty well.
********************************************* *********************************************
1. LIVING DEAD WORLD (2004) –
Okay, a little drone lands on Earth in an alley. A homeless guy disturbs it and it explodes. This causes an electromagnetic pulse that basically does two things. One it turns anyone who was in the blast radius and unprotected, into a zombie. A man, flesh eating mindless creature. Oh yeah, it also does what a regular EMP does. Nothing works. Cars, lights, you name it. This brings a rag tag group of survivors together who are trying to get away from the infected area and to somewhere safe. But where is safe? They are working on zero information and running on pure survival instinct. But, what makes this truly a number one worthy flick? Why because your faithful writer is one of the zombies! That’s right, my oldest son, Seann and I went for his birthday when he turned fifteen and we stayed from dusk until dawn working on the film. It was a blast and Seann and I got a couple of really good closeups in the film.

This Blog thing I enjoy has literally made me a name it at least Azerbaijan and in some locations deep in the Congo... so that's cool. Besides infrequently putting forth minimal effort doing a blog, I also try a fair bit harder to make people laugh in their cereal over at GUNAXIN.COM, which is where I actually get paid to make up stupid stuff and use foul language. Anyway... why are you still reading this? Oh, and while you're here, you might as well go check out my DeviatArt page, too! http://stewwriter.deviantart.com/
